TEACH CHILDREN TO SAVE

APRIL 20th & APRIL 23, 2009

Presented By:THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DENNISON

The First National Bank of Dennison teamed up with Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade Students from Immaculate Conception Elementary School to participate in Teach Children to Save Day.  First National Bank employee, Kathy Norman (Administrative Assistant) presented a 2-day program detailing checking and savings accounts, credit, ATM and debit card transactions, loans, interest rates and credit scores.

The students participated in a “hands on” checking account program designed by First National Bank.  The program walked the students through the opening of a “make believe” checking account.  Not only did the students participate in the opening of the account, but they wrote checks and completed deposit tickets.  The students were responsible for the completion of a check register, which included the following types of transactions:  deposits, checks, ATM, EFT, ACH, transfers, and interest earned on the account.  The students were then educated on the checking account reconciliation process.

Each student was presented the booklet “Checking Accounts” published by the ABA Education Foundation, a First National Bank of Dennison pen, and the most popular item….donuts!  Danielle Garrett was the recipient of the $50.00 Savings Bond presented at the conclusion of the program.
